Welcome
Welcome to House Along the River. A place for reflection, renewal, and restoration.

At House Along the River, we believe that peace is not something to be found, but something to be nurtured within ourselves. Our tranquil indoor and outdoor spaces provide the perfect setting for retreat, whether you’re here alone or with a small group. In this peaceful environment, free from the rush of daily life, we invite you to reflect, connect, and carry that peace back into the world with you.

My love for dirt is where this journey began—rooted in my childhood memories as a Kansas farm girl. From mud pies to wild sand plums, my connection to the earth was fostered by my family, especially my parents who nurtured a love for nature. Over time, this love grew, shaped by the experiences of my life, the loss of my beloved husband, and the healing power of tending to the land. This place, created from love, is my way of giving back, just as my husband supported me and encouraged my passion for gathering people and growing things.

House Along the River was built to be a place where joy can be found in simplicity—in the rustle of leaves, the flow of the river, the beauty of shared stories. Here, I hope you find joy in the connection between the natural world and the people who come here. Whether through conversations around a fire or quiet moments of solitude, may your time here bring you the kind of joy that radiates outward, bringing warmth to others.

THE HOUSE ALONG THE RIVER
A place for reflection, renewal, and restoration.
I’m so glad you found your way here. House Along the River was created with the hope of offering a sanctuary for individuals and groups seeking a space to reflect, restore, and renew—whether through personal reflection or in the company of others. The driving spirit pushing me forward to build House Along the River was a quote from Frederick Buechner:
“The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.”
At the heart of this space is my belief that, by nurturing ourselves, we are better able to nurture others. I have poured my love into every corner of House Along the River, and my hope is that it becomes a peaceful haven for non-profit groups and individuals to cultivate hope, love, and a sense of belonging.
May your time here inspire you to spread peace and love, and may this home give you the encouragement you need to share your light with the world.
